Steenbok Crossing
This development called Steenbok Crossing is situated in the Limpopo Province. The land is located approximately 60km west of Lephalele (formerly Ellisras). It is also close to Maropong and Overwacht, as well as the existing Matimba Power Station and Exxaro Resources Grootegeluk Coal Mine.
It is the intention of the local authority of Lephalale in partnership with Exxaro Resources and Eskom to create a commercial and residential node at the crossing of the D1675 and the D175. Steenbok Crossing is located almost at the centre of this node.
Exxaro Resources and Eskom have reached an agreement on the price and terms of the Coal Supply Agreement for Medupi.
Medupi, formerly code-named Projects “Alpha” and “Charlie” is a project for the construction of a Power Station on behalf of Eskom with a name plate capacity of between 4200MW and 4500MW.
It is expected that Lephalale’s population will triple over the next 10 years as Eskom expands its electricity generation network, and the nearby Grootgeluk Coal Mine grows to supply the new Power Station.
This development, in time, is ideal for low-cost housing and remains a long-term project.
